Dress for the weather, not the season, this is so true in Ireland and the rest of the northern European countries, where the weather is unsettled and summer days can turn into winter.
A few weeks ago I took part in the Wicklow200 cycle event, held the first week in June each year. Great, well run event, with around 2,500 people completing either 100KM or 200KM course wound Wicklow. Given this was June, you would expect decent weather, the forecast was for very bad day. A lot of people came dressed for summer. The main medical problem treated on the day, was hypothermia, in June (I know we are taking about Ireland), but come-on.
The photo below was taken on top of one of the long climbs. Summer's day :-)
Bring extra (if your going to be out all day)
Leg or nee warmers
Arm warmers
Cycling jacket
Base layer
Sun cream (in case the weather people get it wrong, which never happens right :-))
Think layers.....
